November 2004:
I recently moved all of my photos to a new server and a new, more automated gallery system. In the process I had to revisit every photo I had online. Besides the locating, profile matching, resizing, sharpening, cataloging, and captioning, the hardest part was looking at so many mediocre photos!
The Picture Of The Day galleries are unchanged! I decided that they represent a snapshot of my evolution as a photographer, and as such shouldn't be "digitally remastered."
Original description:
Around January 10th, 2001, I decided to try to take at least one
photo every day because I enjoy photography, I enjoy sharing my
photos, I want to learn about and improve my photography, and I
figured there must be at least 365 interesting photos in my life
waiting to be taken.
POTD has vacillated between two different concepts:
1. That I should choose something, anything, from every day I took a photo whether any of them are any good or not, and
2. That I should only pick out photos I'm proud of and be willing to leave a blank space for the days where I didn't pull it off.
I guess this is my way of explaining why there are plenty of silly or crappy photos in the collection.
