A few months ago I installed NetNewsWire Lite on my machine to automate the process of checking for new headlines on a few technology pages (slashdot.org and macnn.com among them). Since then, I've found that most pages I visit regularly, including craigslist.org, have RSS feeds. Now I can check the new stories on dozens of web pages with a quick scroll through the NetNewsWire Lite window, mark them all as read, and get on with everything else.
Yeah, this is nerdy, but it has had a big impact on how much web surfing I do. I rarely wander around the web anymore, except for photography forums and online portfolios.
I'm reminded of one of my favorite Simpson's quotes:
Lenny: "C'mon, stay yellow, stay yellow! Man, I'm making record time! [wistfully] If only I had some place to be."Posted at April 30, 2004 10:06 AM, Categories: Beardcore
